You will be able to visit ancient rock fortresses, UNESCO World Heritage sites, wildlife safaris, and beaches, while enjoying comfortable stays and authentic local experiences. From the hustle and bustle of Colombo to the holy city of Kandy, from the tranquil bays of Pasikudah to the breathtaking scenery of Sigiriya, this trip has been carefully planned to offer a mix of adventure, relaxation, and culture. There are also special activities that will add an extra dimension to your trip, including village experiences, safaris, snorkelling, and train rides. Every day of your trip has been planned to ensure that you have a wonderful time while also leaving room for your own explorations and leisure activities.

Day 01: Airport – Negombo

Arriving at Colombo Airport, tourists will receive a warm welcome and proceed to their hotel in Negombo. The afternoon is at leisure to relax and enjoy the gentle waves at Negombo Beach or take a peaceful walk along the lagoon. The place is renowned for its fishing villages and colonial heritage, which can be experienced during a leisurely walk around the town. The evening is at leisure, perhaps enjoying some seafood at a beach restaurant. The overnight stay in Negombo sets the tone for a calm journey.

Day 02: Negombo – Sigiriya via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya with an optional visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to witness the elephants. Continue your journey through the picturesque countryside, with small villages and paddy fields dotting the landscape. Check into your hotel in Sigiriya and spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Tourists can take a walk through the hotel’s garden or enjoy a view of Sigiriya Rock from afar. Dinner at the hotel marks the end of the gentle introduction to the cultural heart of Sri Lanka.

Day 03: Sigiriya – Lion Rock Climb & Village Experience

Today, wake up early and climb the magnificent Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress, exploring ancient frescoes and breathtaking views of the surrounding plains. After the climb, have a traditional village experience, including a bullock cart ride, a catamaran boat ride, and a home-cooked meal with a local family. In the afternoon, go on an optional safari at either Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park, spotting elephants roaming freely in their natural habitat. The day has been a perfect blend of history, culture, and wildlife adventure, and the evening is at leisure, offering an opportunity to reflect on a full and exciting day.

Day 04: Sigiriya – Dambulla & Trincomalee

After a hearty breakfast, visit the Dambulla Cave Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring ancient murals and statues of Buddha. Continue your journey along a scenic route to the East Coast. By the end of the day, you will have reached Trincomalee. You will then check into a beach resort in Nilaveli or Uppuveli and enjoy your evening in the company of calm waters. This day promises to be memorable, given the variety of experiences it offers.

Day 05: Trincomalee – Pigeon Island Snorkelling

Start your day with a boat trip to Pigeon Island Marine Park. This location offers a perfect environment for snorkelling, with its crystalline waters and coral reefs. You will then return to Nilaveli for a relaxing day in the company of nature. You can enjoy a stunning view of the sunset in the Indian Ocean. This day will come to a peaceful close, given the serene environment of Trincomalee.

Day 06: Trincomalee – Koneswaram Temple & Lover’s Leap

Visit the iconic Koneswaram Temple, perched on Swami Rock and offering breathtaking views of the coast. Walk along Lover’s Leap, a dramatic cliffside viewpoint with stunning ocean vistas. In the afternoon, explore Kanniya Hot Springs, an ancient bathing complex revered by locals for its healing properties. Enjoy some time for relaxation on Nilaveli Beach before returning to your hotel. Evening at leisure provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy local cuisine or take a quiet walk along the shore.

Day 07: Trincomalee – Pasikudah

Breakfast is followed by a relaxing morning at the beach. Whale watching is also available if the season is right. Then, a drive along the coast to Pasikudah is planned. Pasikudah is known for its shallow waters and white sandy beaches. A stay at a beachfront resort is planned for this day. In the evening, a walk along the beach at sunset is a wonderful experience for photography and for a peaceful evening walk. An overnight stay is planned in this beautiful location.

Day 08: Pasikudah – Leisure & Water Sports

This day will be for leisure and optional water sports. You can enjoy jet skiing, paddle surfing, catamaran sailing, or even snorkelling in the calm waters. Take a leisurely walk on the pristine beach during sunset to relax after a day of fun-filled activities. Pasikudah is one of the most relaxing spots in Sri Lanka, thanks to its calm waters and gentle sea breeze. You will be staying at a beachfront resort, so comfort is guaranteed.

Day 09: Pasikudah – Scenic Transfer to Kandy

Depart for Kandy via Mahiyanganaya, enjoying the scenic drive through rolling hills and rural villages. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist sites. In the evening, attend a traditional Kandyan cultural dance show, featuring colourful costumes and energetic performances. An overnight stay in Kandy provides a restful night after a day of scenic travel and cultural exploration.

Day 10: Kandy – Hill Country & Tea Plantations

Begin the day with breakfast, followed by a trip through Sri Lanka’s hill country, stopping at tea plantations and a tea factory to see how tea is made and sample fresh Ceylon tea. Proceed to Ella by the scenic train journey from Nanu Oya, known for its breathtaking views of misty mountains, waterfalls, and valleys. Spend the day exploring the charming hill country town or simply enjoying the cool climate. Staying overnight in Ella provides a comfortable end to a day of exploration.

Day 11: Ella – Nine Arch Bridge & Ravana Falls

Begin the day with a visit to the famous Nine Arch Bridge, an impressive colonial-era structure nestled in lush surroundings. Next, head to Ravana Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful waterfalls, ideal for photography and a short nature trek. Spend the day exploring Ella town, its cafes, and shops, before getting ready for your transfer to Colombo. Take a moment to reflect on the varied landscapes, from coastlines to tea country. Staying overnight in Colombo gives you a chance to rest before departure.

Day 12: Colombo – Airport & Departure

Conclude your journey with a city tour of Colombo, including Galle Face Green, Independence Square, and the Dutch Hospital precinct. Enjoy shopping for souvenirs or local handicrafts before your airport transfer. Savour a final Sri Lankan meal or coffee while reflecting on the experiences of the past twelve days. Depart with memories of rich culture, pristine beaches, wildlife, and scenic landscapes.
